- Signature Dishes: The highlight of my visit was the Pork Rib Bean Paste Stew. It arrived steaming hot, accompanied by fluffy rice and a selection of banchan—small side dishes that added a refreshing balance to the meal. Each bite delivered rich, complex flavors, making it my personal favorite!
- Kimchi Fried Rice: Another standout was the compelling Spicy Kimchi Spam Fried Rice. Each spoonful melded the savory notes of kimchi with satisfying chunks of spam, though I did find myself wishing for a bit more spam to heighten the experience.
- Friendly Atmosphere: Chef Moon's warm hospitality adds to the allure of this restaurant. Though he operates solo and can be overwhelmed, his dedication to quality shines through. Guests have noted that despite potential delays, the food's flavor and generosity of portions make it a must-visit.

This gem of a spot is worth the visit! It's just Mr. Moon working by himself so be prepared to wait, especially during rush hours. He's understanding and will cancel the order if you can't afford to wait. I went two weekends in a row on two different ski trips. The first time we were at the end of a big lunch rush and there was traffic so we decided to just sit and wait. The wait was loong like over an hour and a half BUT worth it! super filling and tasty. Food is actually spicy so be careful of which spice level you choose. Despite the wait, we decided to return a week later, and luckily the second time there was no wait. We split the kimchi fried rice, pork rib bean paste stew, tteokbokki, and pork bulgogi. Huge portions, all very good. My favorite is the pork rib bean paste stew. Comes with rice and banchan. Delicious! Please support small businesses like Mr. Moon's :)

Super friendly, very flavorful ramen, and the korean coffee is definitely a must try!

Went here after a long day of skiing, and this was the best decision for food we could have made. We ordered spicy kimchi spam fried rice, and the pork bulgogi, and, while we wished there was a bit more spam in the fried rice, it was absolutely delicious. Be prepared to wait a little bit if you're ordering to go simply because they're short staffed and don't have as many cooktops. Nevertheless, it was worth the wait and will definitely be back next time I'm in the area!

Great food for this little kitchen. However the wait can be long since there was only one person there running the entire place. Thank you Justin for the gyoza and egg drop soup, the kids enjoyed it. It took us about an hour to get food here. Otherwise the kimchi fried rice was excellent

The food here is fantastic--especially impressive given it's a one-person operation. Because of that, I recommend showing patience and respect for the effort and quality. The dishes were a bit spicy for my taste, and there isn't an obvious option to request milder heat, so be prepared if you prefer less spice. Still, I'd happily return, though I'd keep my expectations realistic. The building itself is older, which can make the dining area feel a bit drafty. But overall, it's wonderful that a place like this exists, and I'm grateful for the unique experience and flavor it provides.

If you want an excellent, homecooked ramen meal that is obviously made with love, eat at Moon's! If you go there during business hours and the door is locked, that's because he's too busy. I recommend waiting it out, once he gets caught up he'll unlock the door and your dreams of delicious ramen will be fulfilled!

Absolutely delicious Korean food in this surprising hole in the wall. The chef was so busy handling everything by himself and there was a bit of a wait but it was worth it. Very casual dining vibe, comfortable and nice after a long day of driving.

The Food While planning for a Lake Tahoe trip, my wife and I discovered this niche stop along the way that is Moon's Korean Kitchen. We made a pit stop, and ordered their Kimchi Spam Rice Bowl, along with Pork Rib Soybean Paste Soup. The order also came with banchan, side dishes with cucumber, radish, and kimchi. The Kimchi Spam Rice Bowl had a good mix of ingredients and was delicious. The Pork Rib Soybean Paste Soup was flavorful and has a good kick to it. There are other dishes on the menu that look interesting, but perhaps next time. The Miscellaneous The Moon's Korean Kitchen is along US-50, about midway between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe. You can miss it if you zoom through the highway. The restaurant is not super big per say, but there's a decent amount of seating for its size. During the time we went, it seemed like the owner was soloing the entire place. But the food came at a reasonable time. The restaurant doesn't have an extensive menu, but it's straightforward with variety. There are appetizers with barbeque, stews, noodles, amongst others. Though it is not a place one would visit often, they do have yummy food. Would recommend making the pit stop if you are around the area.

This place is definitely a must try. A family owned restaurant. Everyone is so nice. It's a dive but it's so good. Ordered extra spicy and it was fire There is a bit of a wait for the food because there's only one cook but definitely worth the wait. No wait time to sit down. Order at the kiosk machine is quick and easy.
